Singing in the Rain

The incessant rain in Pittsburgh is the inspiration for tonight’s post—that and the fact that I’ll do anything to avoid writing my Comparative Political Behavior paper. Blech!
The rain has me thinking about essential rain accessories:
ü Rain boots
ü Umbrellas
ü Trenches
There are so many great brands to choose from that it can sometimes be overwhelming! Well, here’s a quick guide to some of the most classic designs.
Rain boots:
Burberry, $275 (This particular design can be found at http://tinyurl.com/3gg9y6v)
Hunter’s Original Tall for Women, $125 (http://tinyurl.com/3ed6g7n)
Sperry, $70 (Many different designs at http://tinyurl.com/3duyhku)
Umbrellas:
Burberry, $150-275 (Burberry.com)
ShedRain, 32.99 (http://tinyurl.com/3mmptmn)
My personal favorite, because they last so long and have SO many designs—Totes, $24 (http://tinyurl.com/c9v2ys)
Trenches:
Burberry, usually $800-$1,200 (http://tinyurl.com/4b7zevn)
Ralph Lauren, $159.99 on sale (http://tinyurl.com/3g6tojh)
L.L. Bean, $119 (http://tinyurl.com/3k9zv6r)
London Fog, $99.98 (http://tinyurl.com/44x7csr)
With all these great styles, you, too, will be singing in the rain!
(Disclaimer: these are just some of the most popular and best-known choices. Feel free to comment with other suggestions!)

Audrey Hepburn

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” –Audrey Hepburn

It only seems fitting that the topic of my first post is Audrey Hepburn. I’ve adored her for as long as I can remember. There’s just something about watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s that makes everything in the world seem okay. And the fact that she did so much to help children in Africa as UNICEF’s first celebrity ambassador makes her one of the most admirable people in the world. As such, I firmly believe that every preppy girl (and guy!) should know and love Audrey Hepburn. After all, she did model for Gap back when it was still considered preppy (and known for having good quality items). Plus, she loves stripes and golfing—and what prepster doesn’t? I recommend The Audrey Hepburn Teasures (37.99, Barnes and Noble) for all devotees.
